AnonymoX

AnonymoX for Firefox is an add-on that gives you fast, anonymous browsing in the click of a button. If you're concerned aboutprivacy online, anonymoX is a good option. When enabled, you'll be able to pick a random IP, delete cookies and view your public IP, all with a view to making life online just that little bit safer.

The problem with many IP hiders and proxies is that they are complicated to set up and can seriously slow down browsing. Not so with anonymoX. It installs as easily as a regular Firefox add-on, and automatically enables a random "identity". By clicking on the anonymoX icon beside the address bar, you'll then be able to pick a specific identity from the list provided, including US, European and Asian IPs.

anonymoX goes a step further by also helpfully prompting you to delete your cookies when leaving a website or changing identities, preventing that site from recognizing you. The app also lets you swap between its own service and Tor, and you can enable anonymoX information in the bottom add-on bar, showing you what identity you are currently connected to, and which IP is publicly visible. Clicking on this information will allow you to change it.

Anonymity while surfing the Internet is pretty hard to come by, even when using 'Privacy mode' in the web browser of choice. There are some specialized solutions that offer a bit more and are really effective in preventing the monitoring of one's browsing habits and thus protecting the seclusion of personal data.

In case you are a Firefox user, it is most likely that you will have to resort to an add-on that can help you in keeping your private information and visited sites away from prying eyes. Available from the add-on bar, this tiny helper will make sure your identity is completely concealed when using one of the virtual ones it comes with. With anonymoX you can choose a different identity with a single mouse click and offers several services you can opt for.

This Firefox add-on redirects all requests send by your browser when you are trying to open a webpage in such a manner that they cannot be traced back to you. This means that the hosts will not receive any information from your end, thus ensuring you remain truly anonymous.

With anonymoX you will be able to enjoy all your preferred websites, without having to worry about your activity being observed and traced by third-parties interested in serving unwanted advertisements or collection personal data without your consent.

Given its great ease of use, anonymoX is clearly an add-on for everyone, advanced and less experienced users alike. The security level it provides is more than sufficient to ensure that, for Firefox users at least, personal user data remains private, while making little compromise in terms of browsing speed.

anonymoX is a good little service, although not particularly flexible. The configuration options are pretty much limited to what you see in the interface, but this means, of course, that the service is very simple to use. Using most identities, we also found anonymoX to be pretty fast, but, as always, some locales were slower than others, especially when choosing the US.

If you are looking for casual and infrequent IP hiding when using Firefox, anonymoX is a good free option. You could always upgrade to the premium service, but if you are looking for slightly more detailed and/or configurable anonymization, we suggest you look elsewhere.
